This is a story of how we (CustomerLabs) came up with remarkable strategies (Strategy A & B) to optimize ad campaigns using just the Conversions API.

For an e-commerce business with a variety of categories we have Strategy A. Using Strategy A, we created 2 custom purchase events for 2 different categories instead of the whole purchase events and sent them to Meta using CAPI separately.

This way the ad algorithm will train on what kind of purchase you need for Product A and Product B. Based on the learning Meta places higher bids on high-value customers which maximizes the value you get out of the campaign and increases the number of conversions.

For a business with only one product, there is a Strategy B where we set the synthetic conversion event as purchases above AOV $1000 (depending on your business, this value varies, to calculate yours do quantile analysis).

We segmented the purchase into high mid and low-AOV based on quantile analysis and optimized ad campaign just for mid and high-AOV.
