How to Use SEMrush Keyword Overview to Find Backlink Opportunities #localseo #semrush

I like using SEMRush when I’m looking for relevant and high-quality backlink opportunities for myself and my clients. By using the Keyword Overview section for a target keyword I want to rank for, I can get a quick cache version of what is ranking on page one of Google. From there, I can see what online directories are present and how I can get featured there.

In this example, I searched for “Local SEO Albany” since that is a keyword I’m currently targeting for TM Blast. After doing that keyword search in SEMRush, I saw a directory listing at position 5, so I clicked on it.

My business (TM Blast) is listed in this directory, but it is at the bottom of the page without any link back to the website. Knowing that this listing is on page 1 of Google tells me that high-quality visitors visit this page and won’t find me since I’m so far down the page.

Therefore, I can get properly listed in this directory (at the top with a link) to drive more referral traffic to my site. When there is an opportunity here, I like to contact the directory directly to see what we can do.

Also, I’m not concerned about DOFOLLOW vs. NOFOLLOW backlinks, nor am I interested in domain authority. Instead, I’m looking for ways to expand my reach online and get listed on places that can drive high-quality visitors back to my site.
