I spent over $6.2 million on Google ads in 2023 for ecommerce businesses in 2023. In today’s video I’ll cover off my biggest lessons and my tips, really to myself on how to I aim to improve in 2024.

TIP 1: Understanding how the Google ads advertising platform actually works is key to success. This means really understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the platform.

TIP 2: Never forgetting the customer on the other side of the ad. While lots of things change in Digital Marketing and Google Ads, understanding that behind every ad is an actual person who is complicated and can’t always be put into a tick box or spreadsheet, will help you become a better marketer.

TIP 3: Understanding conversion tracking and only trusting the data on your servers – this means your Shopify dashboard for Ecommerce stores. Google Analytics 4 & Conversion Tracking are great, but are only one piece of the scaling puzzle.

TIP 4: Understanding Attribution & Modelling – but also note that there is no 100% correct method or tool. All they are, are slightly different lenses.

TIP 5: AI has been around for quite some time now, don’t be scared of it, embrace it but also don’t fully trust it.

TIP 6: Google over indexes for Bottom of funnel traffic. Make sure you drive spend and force it to get new customers.

TIP 7: Have a clear goal for your strategy. Make it multilayered, multi-channel and dynamic. Don’t be scared to try things. There is no one best platform.
